B3. Installing fonts from Google’s repository

You can test this yourself.

When you see a beautiful design with texts, the typography attracts your immediate attention as it preserves the aesthetic value of the design.

Fonts play a pivotal role in setting the overall tone of a design along with colors, and together they ensure great user experience.

We take special care with fonts, and so, when you download our templates, you’ll find that we’ve mentioned the fonts we’ve used in the first slide of all templates.

In case you don’t already have those fonts installed on your computer, the slides may NOT look as they should.

This is why the 3rd crucial step among the ‘first steps’ is installing those special fonts on to your computer – if not already there – for making social media video.

The good news is, it is easy to do. And we’ve made a video explaining how you can do that without much hassle.

There are mainly 2 steps to follow.

Step 1: Sourcing the font

There are great repositories for wide collections of fonts, but perhaps the most ideal place to go for sourcing is Google Fonts.

Google fonts are free to use – this is what Google says about using the fonts:

You can use these fonts freely in your products & projects – print or digital, commercial or otherwise. However, you can’t sell the fonts on their own…

To download fonts from Google’s repository, follow these steps (also shown in the video below):

  • Select one or more fonts,
  • Open the drawer at the bottom of the screen, then
  • Click the “Download” icon in the upper-right corner of the selection drawer.

Step 2: Installing the font(s) on your computer

Let’s say you want to source from Google fonts. So, follow the steps below:

  • Download the font package (.zip)
  • Uncompress the package
  • On your computer, search for ‘fonts’ in the Start Menu OR go to Settings → Appearance and Personalization → Fonts
  • Select all fonts and drag them into the Fonts folder

To make it yet more easy for you, we’ve made the following instructional video that explains all the steps.

You’ll also lean how to uninstall fonts from your computer in case you want to do so.
